Award Prize/ Big Read Competition

Two students who joined a nation-wide reading contest called "Big Read" and won the prizes: a Runner Up and an Honorable Mention. Their works are displayed in iPlaza.

Video Making

E-SUP students made a video to introduce iPlaza activities. They interviewed the host of "Tea Time" and the winners of contests. They also took videos of "Lunchtime chatting" and "Christmas Party". Finally students edited the video and recorded the narration for it.

Bilingual Project "Eiji Kobo"

"Eiji Kobo" is TTI's workshop studio for TTI students, named after the first chief director, Eiji Toyoda. E-SUP students studied about Eiji Kobo and Eiji Toyoda's ideas. Finally they translated the description of equipment's names and their usage from Japanese into English.

Christmas Party

E-SUP students made a presentation about Christmas. "Christmas Quiz" and "Who Am I" games were exciting and they were good ice breakers for the guest students. Participants enjoyed conversation in English and special Christmas cakes.

Scientific English Vocabulary Contest

NIT and TTI co-held a Scientific English Vocabulary Contest. Eleven students participated and learned scientific vocabularies which are useful for their future research works.

iPlaza Halloween

Our Halloween Party was on the Halloween Day this year. Participants were dressed in costumes and enjoyed games such as Mummy making with toilet paper, Head Bans (Halloween Special Edition) and Profile Bingo. Everyone participated in the games, and had nice chats.

Big Read

Two TTI students will join a nation-wide reading contest called "Big Read". They chose a book by themselves, prepared their presentations, and made two beautiful posters. They introduced their books "Cries from the Heart" and "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" to the audience at iPlaza Café.

Report Meeting on Study Abroad Program for Master's Course Students

Five master's course students talked about their research work and life in a foreign country in English. The universities and institutions they visited included The University of Alabama(USA), The University of Adelaide(Australia), Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz(Germany), Leibniz-Institut fur Werkstofforientierte Technologien - IWT (Germany), The Ulster University(UK),and Obuda University(Hungary).

Presentation contest

This is our eleventh presentation contest. The first prize winner of the free speech section was NAGATA Yusuke, under the title of "Power of Fermentation ". IDACHI Seiji won the first prize of the research section with his speech "Structural health monitoring using optical fibre ". All six students who joined the contest made a great effort in giving well-organized presentations. The audience was impressed by their talks.

Report Meeting on Summer Program

Six students joined summer programs held at TTI's collaborative universities. This year, three students visited National Chung Hsing University, and three visited Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology. Students made a presentation on what they had experienced during their stay in Taiwan and Thailand.

Report Meeting on Study English Abroad Program for Undergraduate Students

Students who participated in the Study English Abroad Program for Undergraduate Students talked about their experiences in English. They explained about the English program they attended, their host family, and their life abroad. Many students who are interested in studying abroad attended the meeting, and listened to the presentations with interest.

Summer Seminar

We invited eleven students, who were from National Chung Hsing University (Taiwan), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Hanoi Univ. of Science and Technology(Vietnam), University of Science, Ho Chi Minh City, (Vietnam), and Pohang University of Science & Technology(South Korea). TTI students, who were called "Buddies", spent a week with the international students and helped their lives in Japan. The international students also experienced new experiments in TTI labs and gave presentations.

TTI Campus Guide Making

E-SUP students translated the Campus Guide into English for international students and visitors. They could know how to use the library, free studying space, training rooms, and university infirmary by reading this guide book. It also included information about how to issue various kinds of necessary certificates and action to take in the case of an emergency.

Excursion to Ise Shrine

iPlaza invited International students and PDs on a tour to Ise Jingu.
The E-SUP students made an English guidebook, and explained about Ise Jingu, its history, manners at the shrine, and local specialties on the bus ride. At Naiku, they led the tour as an "English tour guide". In the afternoon, the participants enjoyed local foods and shopping at Oharaimachi.

Discover a New Culture

Participants enjoyed mini presentations over a cup of tea and snacks. The International students and PDs talked about subjects such as "Famous Sport in France & French Food", "Russian Trains", "New Habits of Vietnamese Society", "The 10 Forms of French Art" and "Prom in America". The E-SUP students talked about "Japanese Blend Tea", "Tsukudani", "Catching Bugs", "Ukai" and "Animal Café".

iPlaza Welcome Party

iPlaza invited freshmen, new international students, and PDs to the "Welcome Party", which was our first event this semester. E-SUP students introduced activities at iPlaza and how to use this international communication lounge. They also prepared a game, "Profile Bingo", which helped participants to know each other. More than 40 students enjoyed their first day at iPlaza.
